Pap. CXXVIII. HOMER'S ILIAD; fragments of books xxiii., xxiv. The following lines are preserved, in whole or in part: xxiii. 1-79, 402-633, 638-897, xxiv. 1-83 (ll.1-40 in a different hand), 100-144, 150-243, 248-282, 337-341, 344-351, 382-387, 402-479, 490-520, 536-548, 559-579, 596-611, 631-657, 671-729, 737-743, 754-759. The MS. when complete was a roll of about 20 ft. in length and 9 3/4 in. in height, containing 43 or 44 columns, each column consisting of about 40 Lines. The scribe who supplied the first column of book xxiv. also corrected the MS. throughout, and added some accents, breathings, and marks of punctuation and elision. The corrector has also added the Aristarchean signs in a few cases. A few scholia are written in a small cursive hand. Probably 1st cent. B.C., in a fine, square uncial hand. Collated in Classical Texts from Papyri in the British Museum, pp. 100-108, and transcribed in full in Journal of Philology, vol. xxi. (1892), pp. 296-343.
