Recto: Fragments of unpublished accounts of the time of Augustus arranged in several columns, with names of persons, sums of money, stated in drachmas, or of wheat, stated in artabas; damaged throughout. The last sheet was not part of the original roll.
Verso: Homer’s Iliad (P.Lond.Lit. 11, TM 60829, LDAB 1957, MP3 697, Allen - Sutton - West P004), arranged in columns, the last five being almost complete. Every hundreth line is numbered in the margin, and the number of lines for each column is stated at the foot.
Papyrus 136 (1): Remains of two columns, preserving parts of the third book of the Iliad. The first fragment, on the upper left-hand side, contains remains of Iliad III 317-337; the fragment in the lower part of the frame has parts of Iliad III 341-364; the third fragment on the right-hand side of the frame preserves Iliad III 365-376.

Col. 1: two fragments, the upper one with remains of Iliad IV 1-28, the lower one with Iliad IV 55-63.
Col. 2: fragment on top: beginning of Iliad IV 64-70; lower fragment: Iliad IV 74-80, with a small trace of v. 73; larger fragment: faded traces of the end of verses until Iliad IV 96.

Col. 4: Iliad IV 159-192; lower fragment: end of Iliad IV 198-201;
Col. 5: Iliad IV 208-245;
Col. 6: Iliad IV 256-294.

Col. 6: Iliad IV 529-544; coronis at the end; after some blank space, there is Iliad V 1, followed by further blank space and the book end-title arranged in two lines;
Col. 7: An additional sheet was added, presumably not belonging to the original roll, with title and colophon, almost obliterated, written by Callinus and mentioning Euripides.

Dimensions: Fragments of various sizes; Papyrus 136 (3): 310 x 960 mm. Housed in three glass frames measuring 355 x 255 mm, 355 x 840 mm and 440 x 1100 mm respectively.
Script: Recto: Semi-cursive hand. Verso: Rough medium-sized uncial; different hands in the first column of the fourth book of the Iliad and in the final colophon.

Provenance: Hermopolite nome (?), Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 130-137 from Dr. John R. Alexander of Cairo on 12 April 1890.
