Portion of the same roll as P.Cair.Mich. II 11.
Recto (P.Lond.Lit. 166, P.Lond. II 155 ro. descr., TM 59973, LDAB 1085, MP3 2374): Part of a medical treatise on surgery, explaining four procedures for reducing the dislocation of the jaw. The Michigan piece deals with the dislocation of the shoulder, anterior and posterior. The treatise has generally been attributed to Heliodorus; Leith (2015) suggests that it might have been a source for Heliodorus; assigned to the early second century on palaeographical grounds.
Verso (P.Lond.Lit. 58, P.Lond. II 155 vo descr.. TM 59438, LDAB 537, MP3 238): Part of a moralising anthology with prose and verse; the London papyrus preserves choliambic verses by Cercidas on the moral degradation of the contemporary world. The Michigan piece contains part of Epictetus’ Discourses 4. Assigned to the late second or third century.
