Letter to Abinnaeus from Demetrius, reiterating the request to seize all natron imported in Arsinoe or elsewhere, which had been made in an earlier communication. Abinnaeus should keep guard over the natron of the treasury, detain the people whom he might catch, and inform Demetrius. With address on the back.

Papyrus sheet of lighter colour in the upper part, torn at the top (front) but otherwise well preserved; writing runs along the fibres on both sides, the back bearing two lines. On the front there is one column of 20 lines, the first of which is mutilated. Lines 17-19 are written in the right margin, and line 20 almost in the middle of the sheet, after some blank space. Left and lower margins are extant; the right margin is minimal and the upper margin is damaged. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Dimesnions: 302 x 200 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 345 x 240 mm.
Script: Thin and large cursive hand, neat and proficient. The last line containing the greetings is smaller and uneven.

Origin: Alexandria, Egypt.
Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, or Dionysias, meris of Themistos, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 229-255 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 14 January 1893.
