Agreement whereby Aurelius Eulogius, prytanis and president of the senate at Arsinoe, undertakes to repay any expenses Flavius Abinnaeus may incur while he is procuring a certificate of appointment as an exactor (epistula exactoriae) in Eulogius’ name from the imperial administration on the occasion of his trip to Constantinople. Fully preserved papyrus sheet, written on one side along the fibres. All margins are extant, the right being minimal. The surface is somewhat abraded in places. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Script: Upright cursive hand; a second hand, less cursive, is found in the subscription, in the last two lines.

Origin: Krokodilopolis, Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, or Dionysias, meris of Themistos, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 229-255 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 14 January 1893.
