Declaration of Camels (P.Lond. II 304, TM 11684)

A declaration addressed to Sarapion, royal scribe of the division of Herakleides in the Arsinoite nome, from Taoutis, daughter of Harpagathes, of Soknopaiou Nesos. The woman states that the five camels she had registered the previous year have been sold. Of these, three were purchased by Harpagathes, son of Satabous, and two from Satabous, son of Satabous. She has no other camels to report for the current year. Of the official docket at the end, only a few traces survive.

Papyrus sheet, broken off at the bottom, but well preserved as to the rest. Writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank; one column of 21 lines survives; of the last line, only traces remain. The surface is slightly damaged in places. Horizontal folding lines are visible. Left and upper margins are extant; no margin was left at the right. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.
