Recto (P.Lond. II 402 recto, TM 5894): Tax list from an official register recording the payment of taxes in wheat. Names are followed by the amounts, stated in artabas.
Verso (P.Dryton 38, P.Lond. II 402 verso, TM 619): Personal list of a traveller’s items, perhaps written by Esthladas, son of Dryton. The list includes mattresses, pillow-cases, horse-cloths, bags, sandals, a portable table, cups, weapons etc.

Papyrus sheet, written on both sides, along the fibres on the recto and across them on the verso. The papyrus is damaged in places, with holes and loss of strips of fibres on either side. On the verso, a darker spot is visible at the top. The text on the recto consists of one column, almost complete; some parts were erased. The text on the verso, complete, is arranged in one column. The papyrus is housed in a glass case.
