Portions of wills from a register.
Upper left fragment (A) (P.Petr.2 I 28, P.Petr. III 19e, TM 47316): Portion of a will in favour of Hagemona, daughter of the testator. The name of the latter is lost, but he may have been a soldier.
Lower left fragments (B-C) (P.Petr.2 I 25, P.Petr. III 19(c-d), TM 47315): Will of a man whose name is lost, making provisions for his wife Artemidora and to their children. Artemidora is to supply all the necessaries to the children and provide the dowries to their daughters. Papyrus 495 contains additional fragments of this will.
Right fragment (D) (P.Petr.2 I 26, P.Petr. III 19(f), TM 47317): Portions of two wills; of the first, only part of the conclusion remains (lines 1-7). The second is the will of Heraclides, and only the opening with the dating clause survives.

Fragments of varying size reused as mummy cartonnage, bearing writing on one side along the fibres, with the back blank; mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.
Upper left fragment (A): Broken off on all sides, with surface damage at the bottom; there are portions of 7 lines; a sheet-join runs from top to bottom at c. 5 mm from the right edge.
Lower left fragments (B-C): Two fragments containing further portions of one of the fragments of Papyrus 495(2): the left fragment contains the beginnings of 6 lines, corresponding to lines 6-11 of Papyrus 495(2), upper fragment. The right fragment bears portions of 8 lines (= lines 1-8 of Papyrus 495(2) upper fragment).
Right fragment (D): Good quality papyrus, broken off at the bottom and right, with plaster and red paint residue; with portions of one column and a sheet-join opposite lines 1-3, in the left edge.

Dimensions: A: 50 x 125 mm; B: 60 x 28 mm; C: 55 x 33 mm; D: 135 x 90 mm. Housed in a glass frame measuring 210 x 280 mm.
Script: Careful and regular upright hand, with no ligature. Same hand in P.Petr.2 I 24-29.

Origin: Krokodilopolis (Medinet el-Fayum), Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnage found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
