Two letters of Asclepiades concerning the payment in kind due to the engineer Theodorus.
Upper papyrus (A) (P.Petrie Kleon 80, P.Petr. II 15(2a), P.Petr. III 43(7), P.Lond. III 548a descr., TM 7446): Letter of Asclepiades to Hephaestion, with the order to make a payment in kind to Theodorus. The address is on the back.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Petrie Kleon 81, P.Petr. II 15(2b), P.Petr. III 43(7), P.Lond. III 548b descr., TM 388508): Fragmentary letter of Asclepiades to Theodorus, stating that the payment in kind due to him has been made.

Two fragments of varying size from two sheets from the same mummy cartonnage, housed in the same glass frame. The modern annotations indicate the mummy from which the papyri derive.
Upper papyrus (A): Lacking the lower right corner and with some surface damage; written on both sides. The front bears 10 lines written across the fibres; upper and left margins measure 15 mm, the lower margin measures 25 mm; a sheet-join is visible at the bottom. On the back writing runs along the fibres, the other way up in relation to the text on the front.
Lower papyrus (B): Small fragment from the top of a sheet, containing portions of 3 lines written against the fibres, and lacking beginnings and ends. The upper margin measures 15 mm.

Origin: Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnages found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
