Papyrus 565 (P.Petr. II 25h, P.Petr. III 61h, P.Lond. III 565 descr., TM 7502): The Lybian Apollonius, son of Menelaus, acknowledges receipt of fodder for fifteen horses and ten mules, and bread, oil, wine and a sum of money for their drivers. Dated to Athyr 2.
Second papyrus from top and Papyrus 564 (P.Petr. II 25g, P.Petr. III 61g, P.Lond. III 564 descr., TM 7501): Receipt issued by Apollonius, son of Menelaus, Lybian, and dated to Athyr 2. Apollonius acknowledges receipt of fodder for fifteen horses, and bread, wine and oil for eleven drivers on the 9th and 10th of Phaophi, and of fodder and barley for ten mules, and bread and money for their ten drivers for two days. Written by Dorus as Apollonius is illiterate.The upper fragment is unpublished.

Four papyrus fragments from mummy cartonnage, written on one side along the fibres, the back bearing no writing, and mounted in the same glass case.
Upper papyrus (Papyrus 565): Top of a sheet, with surface damage in the preserved portion; 9 lines remain, some of which fragmentary and rubbed; side and upper margins survive.
Second and third papyrus (Papyrus 564) from top: Two fragments, presumably from the same sheet. The first preserves the upper portion of the sheet, and lacks the upper right corner; with 6 lines; of the first 3 lines only the beginnings remain; upper and left margins survive, right margin minimal. Papyrus 564 lacks part of its right portion, and is damaged and rubbed throughout; it bears 20 lines.
Lower papyrus: Fragment of a sheet, with 6 lines, complete with the exception of line 1, which is fragmentary. Side margins are extant.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: Papyrus 565: 69 x 104 mm; Second papyrus: 49 x 108 mm; Papyrus 564: 144 x 110 mm; Lower papyrus: 58 x 117 mm. Housed in a glass frame measuring 405 x 180 mm.
Script: Cursive hands of medium size (with the exception of Papyrus 565, the hand of which is small), overall regular.

Origin: Ptolemais Hormou (El-Lahun), meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnage found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
