Register of outgoing letters concerning irrigation.

Column 1, lines 1-6: Order to supply materials, as the water is rising.
Lines 7-end: Report on the gates that had been opened and are in operation, and order to write to the guard of the dyke.
Column 2, lines 1-13: Fragmentary letter, mentioning gates and supplies;
Lines 14-end: Letter to Diogenes, concerning works on the dyke to avoid that the releasing of water would drag it away.
Columns 3-4: Fragmentary letters, the last addressed to Dionysius.

Column 1, lines 1-16: Letter to Dionysius, reporting that some of the sluices near Ptolemais have been opened by the water, and requesting for materials to be sent.
Lines 17-end: Portion of another letter, with the order to send something in Ptolemais.
Column 2, lines 1-9: Portion of a letter, reporting on various matters, among which is the opening of a sluice gate.
Lines 10-15: Letter to Dionysius, urging him to ensure that the works are finished soon.
Lines 16-23: Letter to Aristarchus, stating that two gates were opened and asking to write should another gate need to be opened.
Lines 24-end: Letter to Paues, on the works still unfinished at a canal in Sebennytos, inspected by Paues.
Column 3, lines 1-7: End of a letter, on a delivery.
Lines 8-16: Letter to Theophilus, requesting a daily report on the loads of materials agreed by the nomarchs.
Line 17-end: Portion of a letter to Dionysius, reporting that a man has not come to the sluice at Montila.

Papyrus fragment with detached scrap from mummy cartonnage, with traces of plaster in places; lacking part of the top and bottom; written on both sides, along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. Each side bears portions of 4 columns; three sheet-joins run along the height of the sheet. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Dimensions: 305 x 420 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 370 x 485 mm.
Script: Medium-sized, upright cursive, with lines slightly inclining upwards.

Origin: Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnage found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
