Acknowledgments of ship-captains (naukleroi) for receipt of wheat.
Lines 1-10: Receipt of the captain of the freighter of Polycrates, acknowledging that he has embarked at Ptolemais Hormou the wheat received from Dorion, collector of grain taxes at the granary in Boubastos, for shipment to Alexandria, to the royal store. Dated to 7 January-5 February 187 BC.
Lines 11-19: Polycrates, ship-captain (naukleros), acknowledges that he has embarked the wheat received from Dorion, collector of grain-taxes at the store in Boubastos. Dated to 18 February 187 BC.
Lines 20-end: Fragment of another receipt, the details being lost. Dated to 21 February 187 BC.
Small fragment: Fragmentary text with part of the dating clause.

Two papyrus fragments from mummy cartonnage, with plaster residue and surface damage; both written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. The larger fragment contains portions of 24 lines, with traces of another line at the top; the lines lack the ends and are damaged at the beginnings in places; part of the lower margin survives. The small fragment contains the beginnings of 6 lines, with only few letters surviving. The fragments are mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Dimensions: 200 x 106 mm; smaller fragment: 50 x 40 mm. Housed in a glass frame measuring 245 x 205 mm.
Script: Thin, regular, rapid cursive hand of medium size; small fragment: middle-sized upright hand.

Origin: Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Destination: Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnage found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
