Two fragments that do not belong together, extracted from mummy cartonnage, housed in a glass frame.
Left papyrus (A): Papyrus fragment, broken off on all sides; written on one side along the fibres; the front bears parts of 2 columns. Of the first, the ends of 21 lines remain, of the second the beginnings of the same number; the back bears no writing and is partly covered with plaster.
Right papyrus (B): Fragment from a medium-brown papyrus roll, imperfect at the foot and with plaster residue in places; written on both sides. The front bears portions of 4 columns written along the fibres; the column width is about 65 mm. The upper margin survives. The back bears parts of 3 columns written across the fibres and broken off at the bottom.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: A: 128 x 40 mm; B: 120 x 210 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 180 x 330 mm.
Script: A: Medium-sized, upright hand. B: Recto: Rather square uncial hand, bilinear; with some large letterforms and serifs in places; paragraphus used to mark change of speakers. Verso: Upright, square hand, punctuation space occurs in one place.

Origin: Egypt.
Provenance: Gurob, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 486-603 by Henry Martyn Kennard (b. 1833, d. 1911) in May 1895. The papyri had been extracted from mummy cartonnage found in Gurob by William Matthew Flinders Petrie (b. 1853, d. 1942) in 1889-1890.
