Beginning of a contract drawn up in the notarial office in Pathyris before Ammonius, representative of the public notary Paniscus, recording the sale of some corn-bearing land on the sandbank of Pathyris from Sisuchus, son of Phibis. Additional fragments are in Heidelberg, one of them partly preserving the summary of the deed (scriptura interior, rolled up and sealed).

Three fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, mounted on cardboard in a glass frame. Additional fragments are in Heidelberg, at the Institut für Papyrologie, inventoried as P. G 1283 and P. G 1300. Writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. The British Library fragments preserve parts of 8 lines from the top of a column, and the upper margin. The Heidelberg fragments supply additional portions of these lines, for a complete column width of 200-210 mm, and part of the first column, 55 mm wide. All fragments break off at the bottom.

Dimensions: 55 x 64 mm; detached fragment: 30 x 160 mm. Housed in a glass frame measuring 120 x 170 mm.
Script: Thin, upright cursive hand of small size, with some elongated and serifed strokes.

Provenance: Pathyris (Gebelein), Pathyrite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 683-687 from Bernard Pyne Grenfell (b. 1869, d. 1926) in July 1896.
