A letter from Achilleus, agent of Pyrrhus, superintendent of the katalochismoi (distribution of catoecic land) in Egypt, addressed to the agoranomoi (public notaries), who are being notified that a certain Didymus alias Amoitas had ceded to the priest Teos some land near the village of Senokomis in the Oxyrhynchite nome. The land was originally shared between Didymus and Teos’ father.

A papyrus sheet, written on one side along the fibres, broken off at the bottom but well preserved as to the rest. Number 47 in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy I. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in one glass case.

Script: Medium-sized upright hand; the first line was written by a cursive hand.

Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
