Column 1: A fragmentary report addressed to Valerius Ammonianus alias Gerontius, logistes (curator) of the Oxyrhynchite nome, from some builders.
Column 2: A report, numbered at the top as 105, addressed to Valerius Ammonianus alias Gerontius, logistes (curator) of the Oxyrhynchite nome, by Aurelius Irenaeus, son of Apelles, monthly president of the guild of carpenters. The examination of a persea tree in the city of Oxyrhynchus has been carried out and the tree has been found to be dried up and unable to produce further fruit. With subscription of Aurelius Dionysius son of Serenus, carpenter, signing on behalf of Aurelius Irenaeus.

Two sheets glued together forming a ‘pasted roll’ (tomos synkollesimos), written on one side along the fibres and preserving two columns of writing, the first very fragmentary; damaged on both sides. Number 53 in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy I. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in one glass case. Further sheets forming the same 'pasted roll' are P.Oxy. LXIV 4441 and presumably P.Oxy. VI 896.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
