Receipt whereby Chaeremon, son of Theon, from Oxyrhynchus, acknowledges the payment of 168 drachmas from Archias, a freedman from Oxyrhynchus, through the bank of Heraclides in the Serapeum. This is the last instalment of a loan of 700 drachmas lent four years earlier. Dated in the 5th year of Antoninus Pius. Scholars have offered different readings of the heading.

Fragment of a papyrus sheet, written on one side along the fibres, broken off at the bottom; ink is faded at the end of some lines; lines 3 and 16 are damaged. Mounted on cardboard and housed in one glass case. Number 98 in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy.

Dimensions: 115 x 100 mm. Housed in one glass case measuring 175 x 155 mm.
Script: Thick and small hand, with occasional ligatures. Thinner and more cursive hand in the first lines.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
