Fragment of a bifolium from a codex containing the Gospel of John (Gregory-Aland P5; P. Lond. Lit. 213; P. Oxy. II 208; TM 61630), containing portions of chapters 1 and 20. On the recto (written along the fibres) are parts of John 1:33-40 (on the left) and John 20:11-17 (on the right). On the verso (written across the fibres) are parts of John 20:19-20, 22-25 (on the left) and John 1:23-31 (on the right). The fragment is probably the second sheet in a single-quire codex of 25 sheets. Another fragment, containing part of chapter 16, is Papyrus 2484.

Dimensions: 210 x 80 mm, mounted in a glass case measuring 255 x 140 mm. Original dimensions estimated at 250 x 125 mm (Turner p. 145).
Ruling: 1 column, originally having 27 lines per page (Turner p. 145).
Script: Upright rather heavy semi-uncial hand. Punctuation by short blank spaces. Occasional rough breathings. Nomina sacra.

Part of the collection of papyri (now Papyri 739-834) presented to the British Museum by the Egypt Exploration Society in October 1900.
