Fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, darkened in places and damaged by wormholes throughout; writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. Portions of five columns containing an average of 30 lines survive; the third and the fourth columns are broken off at the bottom, and the third has few letters at the beginnings of the lines. Each column measures 168 x 47 mm; each line has an average of 13 letters. Upper and lower margins survive to 77 mm and 23 mm respectively; the intercolumn meaures 23-26 mm. The number in red, repeated twice, refers to the edition in P.Oxy. II. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: Fragments of varying size: fr. 1: 260 x 177 mm; fr. 2: 184 x 132 mm. Housed in a glass case measuring 320 x 420 mm.
Script: Good-sized formal round hand, strictly bilinear and with no contrast between narrow and broad letters; some serifs decorate the end of verticals. Few corrections occur (e.g. insertion of iota adscript), perhaps by a second hand. Paragraphus is used. The scribe has been identified as Oxyrhynchus Scribe #A13.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
