Upper fragment (P.Oxy. II 236a, TM 78556) and middle fragment (P.Oxy. II 236b, TM 78556): Fragments containing the beginning of a document; only the date survives. They were found rolled up together and bear the same date (64-63 BC). They presumably are copies of the same document, with B being better preserved.
Lower fragment (P.Oxy. II 236c, TM 78557): Beginning of a document, of which the date survives, which could correspond to 69-58 BC or 55-51 BC.

Three fragments that do not belong together, written on one side along the fibres and mounted on cardboard in one glass case. The numbers in red on each fragment refer to the publication in P.Oxy. II.
Upper fragment (A): Broken off at the bottom and left, containing parts of 5 lines; upper margin extant.
Middle fragment (B): Broken off at the bottom and left, with parts of 5 lines lacking few letters at the beginning and traces of another line below. Upper margin preserved.
Lower fragment (C): Broken off at the bottom and right, lacking the upper margin too and damaged along the vertical fold. The beginnings of 8 lines are preserved, with traces of another line below. Some 20 letters may be missing to the right. Left margin preserved.

Dimensions: A: 43 x 62 mm; B: 42 x 71 mm; C: 52 x 46 mm. Housed in a glass case measuring 230 x 130 mm.
Script: Various hands, with that of C being more cursive. In C, a second hand is to be found in line 5.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
