An agreement whereby Lucia, also called Thaisas, indemnifies Sarapion alias Clarus against any exaction on account of her loan for which Sarapion had acted as a security. Lucia had borrowed 3500 drachmas to be repaid with interest from Heraclides, son of Apollonius, on mortgage of some of her land holdings. Should Sarapion be called upon to pay on her behalf, he shall become owner of the mortgaged property. Penalty applies if Lucia violates any of the terms.

- Papyrus sheet, nearly complete, but damaged by holes and darkened across the middle. The text runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. All margins are extant, with the blank space at the bottom measuring 105-115 mm; no margin was left to the right. The number in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy. II. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 387 x 158 mm; housed in a glass case measuring 435 x 205 mm.
Script: Fine upright semi-uncial hand, occasionally compressed and smaller at the ends of the lines; the first letter of the line is usually enlarged; lines are somewhat uneven, slightly slanting upwards. A second hand, smaller and more cursive, is found at the end of line 49.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
