Copies of tax receipts recording money payments made over various years by Tryphon and his father Dionysius on account of four taxes: the tax on weaving, the poll tax, the tax on pig and the tax for the maintainance of the dykes. The payments were mostly made through banks. In the extract at the end members of Tryphon’s family are listed with their age.

Papyus sheet, complete but damaged by abrasion and holes, especially in the left half and along the vertical folds; writing is on one side along the fibres, with the back blank. There is one column of 42 lines; all margins are extant, the right being minimal and irregular. The left margin measures 17-23 mm, and the lower 30-35 mm. The number in red refers to the publication in P.Oxy. II. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Script: Thin cursive hand, with a tendency to become less careful, less even, larger and faster.

Origin: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 739-834 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in October 1900. Of these, papyri 739-814 form part of the discoveries made by B. P. Grenfell and A. S. Hunt on the site of the ancient Oxyrhynchus.
