Papyrus 1157 (1):
Column 1 (SB XXII 15468, TM 79047): Census declaration lacking the left-hand side, with approximately 8-10 letters missing. The declarant is Harendotes, priest of the temple of Athena in the village of Alabastrine, aged 57; he registers himself and two boys aged 6 and 8, priests of the same temple, the latter of whom is his son; dated to 20 May 231 and with subscription at the end.
Columns 2-7 (P.Lond. III 1157r, TM 22804): Account of money taxes dated to 14 September 249 and covering a period of ten months; arranged in several columns and divided into monthly sections, each with a summary at the end. Column 7, lines 9-13 were cancelled because they contained a repetition of the totals already given.
Papyrus 1157 (2), Columns 1-5, line 2 (P.Lond. III 1157r, TM 22804): Continuation of the account of money taxes, with traces of an additional column on the right-hand side. The first two lines of column 5 were cancelled.
Papyrus 1157 (2), Column 5, line 3-end: Unpublished account, arranged in two columns damaged throughout, with names and sums stated in artabas.
Verso: Miscellany of documents arranged in columns of various lengths and written by various hands.
Papyrus 1157 (1): Remains of a couple of lines on the left-hand side;
Columns 1-2 (P.Lond. III 1157v (a), Chrest. Wilck. 375, Sel. Pap. II 355, TM 22807): Application for purchasing twelve arouras of public land from Aurelius Apollodorus, beneficiarius of the prefect, addressed to three officials, among whom Aurelius Maecius Nemesianus, acting strategus of the Hermopolite nome; with the copy of the application formerly presented to Claudius Marcellus and Marcius Salutaris appended.
Column 3 (P.Lond. III 1157v (b), Chrest.Mitt. 199, TM 22808): written in a different hand, request for instructions on how to register a loan.
Papyrus 1157 (1 ) verso, column 4 - Papyrus 1157 (2) verso, columns 1-6, the former only having some traces (P.Lond. III 1157v (c), descr., TM 22809): Accounts arranged in columns and written in different hands, concerning various items; two columns are written upside down in relation to the other columns.

Dimensions: Papyrus 1157 (1): 250 x 780 mm; Papyrus 1157 (2): 255 x 615 mm. Mounted in two glass frames measuring 310 x 830 mm and 310 x 660 mm respectively.
Script: Various hands on recto and verso with cursive elements, in some cases thicker and quicker, in other more regular and neat.

Origin: Alabastron Polis, Hermopolite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Hermopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 884-1178 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 8 June 1901.
