Four-year lease of one sixth of a house located in Hermopolis from Stotoetis, daughter of Dioscorus, acting with her guardian, to his brother Chichois, who already possesses the rest of the house. Stotoetis owes Chichois 220 drachmas, and in place of the interest, Chichois is to use the house. At the end of the term, Stotoetis shall repay the debt or renounce all rights to the property.

Column 2, lines 1-17: Deed of the lease, with subscription written by Hermaeus alias Besas.
Papyrus 1168(2) recto, column 1, lines 1- 3: Statement of Chichois to the banker surrendering the lease of the house because he has received the money.
Lines 4-8: Copy of the receipt made through a private bank acknowledging the payment of 220 drachmas;
Lines 9-14: Receipt from Stotoetis.
Column 2: Receipt from Chicois to Stotoetis, acknowledging the payment.
Papyrus 1168(2) verso: Copy of the certificate acknowledging the cancellation of the lease made through the bank of Ptolemaeus.

Papyrus roll, housed in two glass cases named Papyrus 1168(1) and Papyrus 1168(2); with writing on both sides; sheet-joins are visible.
Papyrus 1168(1): Complete, damaged by holes throughout, but well preserved as to the rest. The fibre orientation of the first sheet (front-side), which displays vertical fibres, is opposite to that of the following sheets forming the roll. On the front there is one short column of 5 lines, written across the fibres on the first sheet; a broad column of 17 lines written along the fibres follows. Margins are extant. On the back is one letter and few dark spots in places.
Papyrus 1168(2): Complete and well preserved, with very few small worm holes; the second sheet (front-side) is shorter than the first; written on both sides, along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. The front bears two columns, complete; all margins are extant. The back bears one column, with dark spots in places.

Dimensions: 235 x 629 mm, and 235 x 460 mm; housed in two glass frames named Papyrus 1168(1) and Papyrus 1168(2), measuring 280 x 675 mm and 280 x 510 mm respectively.
Script: Six cursive hands. Papyrus 1168(1) ro., column 1: Small, somewhat rough cursive hand; column 2, lines 1-2, 4-14, 16-17, and Papyrus 1168(2) ro., lines 9-14: Large, thin, upright cursive hand, occasionally compressed at the ends of the lines; lines 2-3, 14-16: thicker, smaller, rapid cursive, hand of Hermaeus alias Besas. Papyrus 1168(2) ro., lines 1-3, and column 2: rapid cursive hand; Papyrus 1168(3) ro., lines 4-8: thin and regular cursive hand, with lines fairly spaced; Papyrus 1168(2) verso: thin and somewhat rough cursive hand, with a slight slant to the right; with corrections.
