Claim of Ownership (P.Oxy. IV 713, Chrest.Mitt. 314, TM 20413)
- Scope & Content:
-
Leonides, son of Diodorus and Saraeus, of Oxyrhynchus, asks the keepers of the public archives to register his claim to the share of land belonging to his mother. Through their marriage contract, Leonides’ parents had ensured that their property remained irrevocable possession of their children. The property of the late father had already been divided among their children; two thirds of the property of the living mother had been given to Leonidas’ brother and sister on the occasion of their marriage. Leonides now claims his share of 4 aruras. With subscription of one of the keepers and dating clause at the end.
