Upper papyrus (A) (P.Hib. I 84a, TM 2817): Contract for the sale of 30 artabas of wheat from Epimenes, Athenian, to Timocles, Chalcidian. Epimenes has received the payment, and shall deliver the corn out of the new crops. The back bears the names of the witnesses and of the parties.
Lower papyrus (B) (P.Hib. I 84b, TM 8293): Beginning of a Ptolemaic date, mentioning year 40.

Two papyrus fragments extracted from the same mummy cartonnage, housed in one glass frame. The modern annotations in red on the back refer to the publication in P.Hib. I.
Upper fragment (A): Sheet, broken off at the bottom, damaged by holes in the preserved portion and with plaster residue; written on both sides. The text on the front runs along the fibres; there are 28 lines; on the back there are remains of 2 lines against the fibres.
Lower fragment (B): Upper left portion of a sheet, with the beginning of one line, written along the fibres.

Script: A: Thin, small cursive hand; B: Thin, large and neat hand.

Origin: Peroe, Herakleopolite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Ankyropolis (El- Hiba), Egypt. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1821-1841 by the Egypt Exploration Fund in January 1909. They were extracted from mummy cartonnage obtained by Bernard Pyne Grenfell (b. 1869, d. 1926) and Arthur Surridge Hunt (b. 1871, d. 1934) at Hibeh in 1902.
