Seventy-seven fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, mounted on cardboard in three glass frames named Papyrus 2054(1), Papyrus 2054(2), and Papyrus 2054(3). The fragments are numbered from 1 to 69, and from 1* to 9*. The text runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank, with portions of 14 columns and additional small fragments. Each column has 21-23 lines on average. The black is blank.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: Fragments of varying size; height of the roll: 182 mm; largest fragment: 182 x 378 mm; housed in three glass frames named Papyrus 2054(1), Papyrus 2054(2), and Papyrus 2054(3); the first and second frames measure 230 x 585 mm, the third frame measures 230 x 385 mm.
Script: Well-formed and careful upright, rather oval hand, with some narrow letter-forms (scribe A4, Johnson 2004); cursive hand for marginal annotations, presumably responsible also for the addition of many accents, breathings, marks of length and punctuation (high and mid dots). Perhaps third hand in fragment 2, column 2, line 16 (P.Oxy. VIII, p. 20)?

Provenance: Oxyrhynchus, Oxyrhynchite nome, Egypt. Found by Bernard Pyne Grenfell (b. 1869, d. 1926) and Arthur Surridge Hunt (b. 1871, d. 1934) at the ancient site of Oxyrhynchus in 1906. Presented as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2040-2075 by the Egypt Exploration Fund on 3 September 1914.
