Contract for a loan of 100 drachmae between a woman called Nea, acting with her guardian, and Echedemus, repayable on demand but with no interest. The six witnesses are listed at the end. The Macedonian calendar is used for the dating. On the back there are the names of the parties and witnesses.

Light-brown papyrus sheet, with top and bottom margins extant but imperfect on both sides. Writing is along the fibres on the recto; faded traces of three lines written across the fibres are visible on the back. Mounted in one glass case.

Script: Various hands, all cursive and rather careless; changes of hand occur in line 3 and in line 13.

Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 2243-2304 from Maurice Nahman (b. 1868, d. 1948) through Ernest Alfred Thompson Wallis Budge (b. 1857, d. 1934) on 9 July 1921. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan, Princeton University, Cornell University, the University of Geneva.
