Verso (P.Lond. VI 1912v., CPJ II 153, Sel.Pap. II 212, TM 16850):
Column 1: Ends of lines from a register;
Column 2: Edict of the prefect Lucius Aemilius Rectus ordering the publication of Claudius’ letter, reproduced in the following columns; dated to 14 Neos Sebastos of year 2 of Claudius [=10 November 41];
Column 3-6: Copy of the letter of the Emperor Claudius in reply to the felicitations and complaints of a Greek embassy sent to him from Alexandria in 41.
Column 3, lines 1-16: The letter begins with a list of the 12 members of the embassy, to whom words of courtesy are addressed.
Column 3, line 16 - column 5, line 13: The Emperor deals with the honours voted for him by the Alexandrians, mostly concerning the imperial cult, and their requests.
Column 5, line 14 - end: The ‘Jewish question’ is then discussed in order to settle the dispute between the Alexandrians and the Jews of the city. The Emperor urges the parties to cease any hostility and live with mutual forbearance, or else he will have to intervene; a short conclusion follows.
Between columns 3-4 a short column, written in the reverse way in relation to the other columns, contains a list of names.

Script: Small cursive hand, overall neat and practised, although careless in places.
