Contract of a Loan (P.Oxy. X 1281, CPJ III 414, TM 21761)

Copy of a contract, with the last lines of the original contract, written in the village of Sinary, whereby a certain Harmaesis, a linen-weaver, acknowledges that he has borrowed from a Jew named Joseph 300 drachmas, corresponding to the value of 100 linen cloths of Sinary. An account must be rendered by Joseph upon restitution of the loan and 50 drachmas must be paid.

Lower portion of a papyrus sheet, damaged to the right; the lower margin measures 60 mm. A sheet-join runs across the fibres 15 mm from the right edge. Writing is on one side along the fibres. Mounted on cardboard in a glass case.
