Rescript of Severus and Application to a Strategus (P.Oxy. XII 1405, TM 21815)

Petition from Aemilius Stephanus, of the village of Sinkepha, to Aurelius Leonides, strategus of the Oxyrhynchite nome, complaining about his appointment as a tax collector. He refuses the duty and cedes his property in accordance with the rescript of the emperor Severus, which is provided at the beginning.
Lines 1-13: Rescript of Severus on the right to surrender one’s property to the person responsible for the nomination to escape the public service (cessio bonorum);
Lines 14-end: Petition of Aemilius Stephanus to Leonides.
