Letter from Aurelius Harpocration, strategus of the Oxyrhynchite nome, to the decaproti of the nome, enclosing the copy of a circular written by the dioecetes Ulpius Aurelius. In view of the approaching inundation of the Nile, Ulpius Aurelius orders the building up of dykes, the cleansing of the canals and the appointment of special supervisors; labour is expected from cultivators, and no money payment is to be accepted from them in place of their work.

Papyrus sheet, damaged on the right and lacking a small portion of the lower left margin; a few holes are visible throughout. The left margin measures between 20 and 23 mm, the upper 17 mm, and the lower is included between 16 and 19 mm. Writing is on one side along the fibres. The last line, written by a different hand, is in brownish ink. Mounted on cardboard in a glass case.
