Opening of the will of Lucius Ignatius Rufinus from Antinoupolis. The text was originally written on tablets from where it was copied here. The testator appoints his brother, Lucius Ignatius Nemesianus as heir to the major part of the estate and leaves to his wife Lucretia Octavia half-interest in a house and a parcel of land. The document is a personal copy issued for the benefit of the parties and reproduced from the official record, deposited in the archives.

Fragment from a papyrus sheet, written on the recto along the fibres. The verso is blank. The text is arranged in one column, almost perfectly preserved. The fragment is complete on all margins: left (30 mm), top (c. 10 mm), right (c. 15 mm) and bottom (c. 10 m). Mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 227 x 240 mm.
Script: The same scribe is responsible for both the old Roman cursive and the Greek cursive, including the signature of the testator, in Greek, and of seven witnesses, in Latin. Medial dots are irregular and appear even after unabbreviated words. There are also apices.

- Origin: Krokodilopolis (Medinet el-Fayum), Egypt.Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 2486-2542 from Maurice Nahman (b. 1868, d. 1948) in September 1922. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan and Cornell University.
