Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 2556-2647 in November 1924, as part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan, Columbia University, Princeton University, New York University, Wilfred Merton (b. 1888, d. 1957), and Alfred Chester Beatty (b. 1875, d. 1968); acquired from Maurice Nahman (b. 1868, d. 1948).
