A letter from Apollonius to Zenon, instructing him to make arrangements for the visit of ambassadors of the Bosporan king Pairisades II and the delegates of the city of Argos, who are on a sight-seeing tour of the Arsinoite nome. Zenon is to dispatch conveyances and baggage-animals to Ptolemais for the visitors. With address, summary of the content and date of receipt on the verso, which includes the hour of receipt (i.e. 10th hour = 4pm).

A fully preserved sheet of a light-brown papyrus, bearing writing on both sides, the recto being written across the fibres and the verso along the fibres. All margins are extant. Housed in a glass case.

Dimensions: 260 x 334 mm; housed in a glass case measuring 290 x 380 mm.
Script: Large and practised hand of the chancery type, although not of the highest standard. Different hand on verso for date of receipt.

Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 2652-2721 from Dr. A. N. Kondilios in July 1925. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan and Columbia University.
