- Title:
- Strenght report of the cohors I Veterana Hispanorum equitata (ChLA III 219 + XLVIII 219, CPL 112, TM 69875)
- Scope & Content:
- This military report refers to the part-mounted cohors I Veterana Hispanorum equitata. It is a detailed inventory of personnel, with accessions, losses, soldiers absent on duty, both inside and outside the province, as well as with sick listed. The papyrus closely resembles a pridianum, a yearly record of a unit usually written on 31st December, but it is framed as an special report based on a pridianum made during Trajan’s wars in Dacia. When this document was drawn up, the unit was garrisoned at Stobi, in Macedonia; how it subsequently arrived in Egypt remains unknown.
