This manuscript contains three parts:
ff. 1*-2*: a fragment of a late ninth- or early tenth-century Continental Missal. For technical reasons, these folios are labelled flyleaf 1c and flyleaf 2 in the viewer to enable them to display in the correct order;
ff. 1r-106v: a mid-10th century collection of St Jerome's and Pseudo-Jerome's works on music and a homily of Origen, possibly intended as a companion volume to the Psalter now Royal 2 B V (see Gretsch, Intellectual Foundations, p. 288);
ff. 107r-108v: one of the earliest fragments of Felix's Vita Guthlaci, copied in the late eighth or early ninth century and later bound upside down in the present codex.
Decoration: 1 decorated initial in red and brown ink, at the beginning of St Jerome on the Psalms (f. 1r), added rubric in red (f. 1r), and smaller initials in brown ink at the beginning of chapters.

Foliation: 2* + 108 (+ 2 unfoliated modern paper flyleaves at the beginning, where ff. 1*-2* are medieval flyleaves taken from a Missal).

Origin, ff. 1*-2*: Italy or France, late 9th or early 10th century
Origin, ff. 1r-106v: ? Southern England, mid-10th century: this manuscript has been variously localized to Worcester, Winchester, Abingdon, and Glastonbury (see Dumville, English Caroline (1993), p. 14 n. 33). It may have been created as a companion volume for the Royal Psalter (Royal 2 B V), which seems to have been created at the same scriptorium, possibly even by the same scribe (see Conner, Anglo-Saxon Exeter (1993), p. 57.)

? Worcester: inscribed a charm in Old English, beginning, 'Wenne wenne wenchichenne' in a 12th-century hand (f. 106v).
? The Benedictine cathedral priory of St. Mary, Worcester: included in Patrick Young's catalogue of the Worcester library (see Catalogus librorum manuscriptorum bibliothecae Wigorniensis made in 1622-1623 by Patrick Young, Librarian to King James I, ed. by J. Atkins and N. R. Ker (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1944, no. 5).
John Theyer (bap. 1598, d. 1673), antiquary: marginal notes in his hand (ff. 1, 4v, 106v); included in the catalogue of his library left to his grandson Charles Theyer (b. 1651) (see E. Bernard, Catalogi librorum manuscriptorum Angliae et Hiberniae, 3 vols. (Oxford: Sheldonian, '1697'), II, no. 6399).
Robert Scott (b. c. 1632, d. 1709/10), London bookseller: included in the catalogue of John Theyer’s manuscripts in his possession, made in 1678 by William Beveridge and William Jane (Royal Appendix, 70, no. 84).
Charles II (b. 1630, d.1685), king of England, Scotland, and Ireland: purchased from Scott together with other 311 manuscripts from Theyer's library.
Presented to the British Museum by George II in 1757 as part of the Old Royal Library.
