Previous description, from the Catalogue of Western Manuscripts in the Old Royal and King’s Collections:
DISTINCTIONES Iohannis Lathbury de ordine fratrum minorum', alphabetically arranged, Abstinendum- Ypocrita. The author is said to have been a monk of Reading and doctor of Oxford, and was present at a provincial chapter in 1343 (see Dict. Nal. Biogr.). Other copies are in Harley MS. 4665 and at Peterhouse, Cambridge (M. R. James, Cat no. 91). Beg. 'Abstinendum est a deliciis'. At the end (f. 237) is added, in the same hand, a sermon on Cant. ii. 5, Amore langueo, beg. 'Reuerendi magistri patres atque domini, ista uerba iam dicta', apparently addressed to an English university.
The vellum fly-leaves (ff. i, 241) are from a 15th cent MS. of a commentary on S. John's Gospel (cap. v). Vellum (outer and innermost leaves of each quire, and some others) and paper; ff. i + 241. Quarto. 81/2 in. x 6 in. XV cent. Gatherings, i12, ii14, iii11, iv-vi12, vii13, viii-xii12, xiii11, xiv-xx12, with catchwords. Sec. fol. 'modos uiuendi'. Belonged to Tattershall College, co. Linc.
