A roll containing a declaration of expenses of Henry VIII's 'navye on the see between Wales and Irelond', by Sir Antony Poyntz (b. 1480, d. 1533), Vice-Admiral, 8 April-23 September 1523.
The recto records the expenses for ten ships in the king's navy: the Minion, the George of Fowey, the Christopher Arundell, the Matthew of Bristowe, the Mary Boleyn, the Berk of Truluff, the Mawdelen and Michell of Bristowe, the Mary Galeyne, the Mawdeleyn of Pole, and the John of Grenewiche. Additional expenses recorded include the costs of conveying letters to and from Ireland, the hire of a ship from the Isle of Man to Scotland, and the carriage of the king's money and ordnance from London to Bristowe. The verso is blank.
The expenses were audited by Guthlac Overton (b. c. 1478, d. 1537), whose signature appears at the end of the roll.
