'AN HISTORICAL VIEW OF THE NEGOTIATIONS between the Court of England, France and Brussels from the year 1592 to 1617, Extracted chiefly from the MS. State Papers of Sr Thomas Edmondes, Knt., Embassador in France and at Brussels ... And of Anthony Bacon, Esq.', etc., by Birch, the original autograph MS. as used for the edition printed in 1749. The Relation of the State of France, by Sir G. Carew, which was included in the above edition is absent from the present MS. and now forms part of Add. MS. 4466, though it appears in the title and at the end of the 'View' (f. 300b) is the note 'Next follows Sr George Carew's MS., in fol. concerning France'. Instead, there follow 'Extracts from Sr Tho. Edmonds's State-Papers,' the substance of which is embodied in the 'View', with references to the pages of the volumes of State Papers, now Stowe MSS. 166-177, and followed (f. 360) by an Index.
