'ORDERS established to be observed by all gentlemen and officers of the Prince's households' (Henry, Prince of Wales). Birch in a note at the head of the roll says that it had belonged to Sir Julius Caesar, Master of the Rolls, at whose sale in 1757 he bought it (lot 7 in A catalogue of the manuscripts of Sir Julius Caesar, 14 Dec. 1757; and cf. annotated and priced copy of the sale-cat. in Lansdowne MS. 123). It was printed by Birch as an Appendix (Number XVII) to The Life of Henry, Prince of Wales, 1760 (p. 427) but, in a footnote, he expresses a doubt whether the Orders are not of a date antecedent to Prince Henry's creation as Prince of Wales in 1610. Vellum roll. 2.41 m x 0. 29m. Circa A.D. 1610.
Henry Frederick (d, Princes of Wales; 1612): Orders for the members of his household: circ. 1610.
