'PILATUS MONS SPECIMINE HISTORIAE NATURALIS Illustrissimae Societatis Regiae Anglicanae subjectus ab ejusdem socio', by Mauritius Antonius Cappeler, M.D.; 1728. With four tables of drawings (ff. 2-5). The autograph portions of the work are the title-page, the heading (f. 6), chapter VI and part of chapter VII (ff. 63-76b), a passage pasted on f. 39, and the last paragraph (f. 89). The text and arrangement differ considerably from the work printed at Basle in 1767 as M.A. Cappellerii ... Pilati Montis Historia. The MS. is dedicated to Sir Hans Sloane, President, and to the members of the Royal Society to whom, however, there is no allusion in the printed work. Marked 'Copy'd' on title-page. Paper; ff. 90. Quarto. A.D. 1728.
