THORESBY PAPERS. Vol. I (ff. 309). Letters, etc., of Archbishops and Bishops arranged in alphabetical order of see; circ. 1551-1721. Latin and English. At the beginning are lists made by R. Thoresby of his collections of original letters and the sources from which he obtained them. Some of the letters in the present collection are to be found at ff. 6, 7. At ff. 8-11 are the subscriptions of Thomas Young, Archbishop of York, and Matthew Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury, and of seventeen bishops, to the Oath of Allegiance; 1560, 1561. That of Archbishop Parker (f. 11), which has at the foot the subscriptions of ten other bishops, was printed by J. Strype in his Life of Parker, i, p. 123, 182 1, from this original, which was then given to him by R. Thoresby (see endorsement).
