(1) Short writings by, and chiefly in the autograph of, John Boyle, 5th Earl of Cork and Orrery (d. 1762), viz:-(a) An English translation of Cicero's Epistle to Lucceius. ff. 1-6;-(b) 'Thoughts and Reflexions on various Subjects'. ff. 6b-10;-(c) An English translation of Horace's Satires, Bk I, No. 5, lines 71-76, beginning 'Through Beneventum next our journey lay'. f. 11;-(d) Some remarks on lyric poetry. ff. 13b-17b passim;-(e) 'Preface to Pyrrha'. together with the poem (incomplete) printed (1741) in Pyrrha: an imitation of ... Horace. ff. 14-21 passim.
