EXTRACTS FROM THE PHILOSOPHICAL WORKS OF FRANCIS BACON, as edited by Isaac Gruter, Francisci Baconi Scripta in naturali et universali philosophia . . ., Amsterdam, 1653. The title-page and pages 62-74 of the printed edition (containing Gruter's translation of Sir Thomas Bodley's letter (1607) to Bacon on the latter's Cogitata et visa, with which the volume begins) are omitted; also the last ten pages. The present copy has been made up from two printed copies and interleaved. Fourteen headings, differing very slightly from the printed ones, are given in MS., with references to those works of Bacon's from which the extracts were taken by Gruter. Paper; ff. 262. Octavo. A.D. 1653, with MS. additions of the XVIII cent.
