Ff. 41-50b were printed from originals in the State Paper Office in The Social State of the Southern and Eastern Counties of Ireland in the Sixteenth Century, ed. H. F. Hore and J. (4) Collections made by Sir James Perrott for his Chronicle of Ireland; 1584-1619. The material consists of draft narrative, extracts and copies from state papers, and accounts by contemporary witnesses, some of which were collected in 1622 (ff. 109, 305b). Partly autograph. For related material see Add. MS. 4763, ff. 497-501. The work was published under the above title by the Irish MSS. Commission, 1933, ed. H. Wood, from another MS. (6) Extract from 'A narration of the service done by the army ymployed to Lough — Foyle', written in 1614 by Sir Henry Docwra. The whole work was printed under the above title in Miscellany of the Celtic Society, ed. J. O'Donovan, Dublin, 1849, pp. 231-286, from a MS. in the Irish Ordnance Survey Office. ff. 306-317.
(7) An account of murders committed by Scots upon the Irish; 1641. ff. 318-319.
(8) Treatises in the autograph of Adam Meredith written before 1679 (cf. f. 340 and Add. MS. 4763, f. 4), with annotations by Arthur Annesley, 1st Earl of Anglesey. Imperfect. Ff. 333-344 are part of a transcript from the printed work Ormonds Curtain Drawn: In a short Discourse concerning Ireland .... by Sir John Temple, 1646, made mainly by Meredith. For the first two leaves of this transcript see Add. MS. 4763, ff. 4-5b. Ff. 320-332b may be a part of this treatise that was never printed. On f. 332b is written 'Imprimatur Sept. 1 1646. [?] Tho. Temple Charls Herle Richard Whittaker'. The printed work appears to be unfinished (p. 32) and the title page of the British Library copy (press mark E. 513. 14) bears the following contemporary note: 'By Sr John Temple; but not finished: S[amuel] Gellibrand', while at the foot of this page the date 5 October 1646 is noted in the same hand. ff. 320-344.

(10) 'History of the Irish Confederation and the War in Ireland', 1646-1647, by Richard Bellings, being part of a transcript of this work formerly belonging to Arthur Annesley, 1st Earl of Anglesey. For an earlier part of this transcript see Add. MS. 4763, ff. 35-89. The whole work was printed by J. T. Gilbert in his History of the Irish Confederation, 1882-1891, vols. i, iii-vii, chiefly from a MS. at Trinity College, Dublin (cf. op. cit., i, P. ix). In this printed work the present section is to be found in vols. v, pp. 7-33, vi, p. 1-48, vii, pp. 1-28. ff. 399-438.
