1. Letter from Thomas Alwaye to [Anne Boleyn?] stating that the Cardinal [Wolsey] having heard of his purchasing an English Testament and other prohibited books, had committed him to the Tower for almost two years, after which he had been brought before the Bp. of Durham, then Bp. of London, [Cuthbert Tunstelo] and the Bp. of Lincoln [John Longland] for examination, the latter of whom had confined him to his diocese, and beseeching "her ladyships" gracious interference that he may have his liberty. [1530-1536?] ff. 1. b. 3, 4
It is inscribed "Humble shewith unto your most noble gracious ladyshepe your pore and humble subject and dayly oratour Thomas Alwaye."
2. An old poem, beginning:
"Helth, onor and vertu, longe tyme and spase,
William Gray wyshethe unto your good grases." ff. 7, 8.
3. An epitaph on William Gray, f. 9.
Begin: "Loo here lyes Gray under the grounde,
Among the gredy wormes."
4. A Doxology, with some proverbs in verse. f. 11. b.
5. A collection of receipts in cookery, prescriptions, etc. ff. 12-34.
6. "Money vested by Mr Rychard Grafton, and Mr. Rauf Grenway, Wardyns, Thomas Lond, Peter Brystowe, William Yonge and William Gybson of the company of Grocers hereafter ensuing for provision of wheat for the cytizyns and Inhabytants of the Cytie of London." ff. 35-38.
