Materials: Paper. Old red stamped binding with 2 clasps. The spine has 4 ridges, none at the foot; the top 3 panels with gold-edged red labels; bottom panel with lily stamped device. On the front cover Christ surrounded by the Four Evangelists at the corners, in the following order in Latin letters : St. Ioannes, St. Matteus, St. Marko, St. Lu.. The style of the binding, including the lettering in Latin, suggests Italy, maybe Florence.
Dimensions: 130 mm x 90 mm. Margins cut down.
Foliation and script: Folios 154+2, in quires of 8. Nineteen lines to the page. Gilt edges with impressed pattern. There are marginal notes (short and in small hand) on the folio 34 (inside edge), folios 89v, 154r, etc. and those on folios 17v, 20v, 124r, 154r, and those on folios 17v, 20v, 124 r, 154r, and the primitive drawings on 21v and 73r, have suffered at the hands of the binder. On the inner edge of folios 33 and 34 is a note on mkhedruli. None of the marginal notes were observed to be of special interest. On fol. 1v is a primitive picture of the cross, partly coloured.
The handwriting is khutsuri of the sixteenth century and varies in style and size. Each verse has a red initial and the psalm headings are rubricated. Fol. 16 is on white paper and in another hand.

Like MS Sloane 1338 it bears the autograph of Thomas Smith. A slip inserted at the beginning, in English reads: 'this MS is written in the sacred Georgian character or Iberian. The alphabet in the Polyglot Bible is the Georgiana minuscula XXX. B. See Hyde, Relig. Vet. Pers. Tab.XIV. There are 36 letters in the Alphabet, about 20 of them may be readily made out by only comparing the short specimen in Hyde with the Alphabet in the Polyglot.' On the next leaf is the autograph of Thomas Smith.
