A paraphrase in verse of the seven penitential Psalms by Thomas Brompton.
At the beginning is written, 'Frater Thomas Brompton Sacrae Theologiae Doctor fratrum minorum pauperculus confessor de … Anglica anno Dom. 1414 ad Dei honorem et incrementum devocionis.' ff. 3-30.
'Hic incipiunt septem psalmi penitentiales de latino translati in Anglicum.'
Begin: —
'In wynter whan the wedir was cold
I ros at mydnyght fro my rest
And prayed to Jeshu that he wold
Be myn helpe for the nyght best.'
End: —
'That joye and blysse he us sende
That schadde his blood up on a tre
And alle that makyn here last ende
Wyth me reminiscaris Domine Amen.'
At fol. 2 are given different reasons why the godly in this life should patiently bear all crosses and afflictions, and at fol. 31 are two prayers, one in Latin, the other in English.
