Quitclaim by Ela de Audley (d. 1299), widow of James Audley (d. 1272) and daughter of William Longspée the Younger (d. 1250), to St Eadburh the Virgin and Bicester Priory [Oxfordshire], of all her right in 2 carucates of land in Wretchwick in Bicester parish, which she had by the gift of her father, William, as part of her dowry; dated 2 Edward I [20 November 1273–19 November 1274].
Endorsed: in a 13th-century hand, ‘Wrechewyck’; in a 19th-century hand, ‘Kennett / Par. Antiq. / I. p. 395.’
Affixed with an imperfect seal of Ela, lozenge, brown, with a full-length image of Ela in a long dress, headdress, and mauches, a heraldic shield in each hand, detail indistinct, flanked by foliage, with the legend, ‘sigillum ela de audelea’ (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), II, p. 375).
